JAKARTA - The Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas for the Kick-Off SDGs Action Awards 2024 with the theme Inovation towards Golden Indonesia: Regarding Quality Education, Work, and Green Industry.

This event was opened by the Deputy for Maritime Affairs and Natural Resources of the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, Vivi Yulawati and was also attended by the Coordinator of the National Secretariat Expert Team for SDGs, Yanuar Nugroho, Expert Staff for Social and Poverty Reduction, Pungkas Bahjuri Ali, President Director of PT Surveyor Indonesia, Sandry Pasambuna who conveyed specifically related to the I-SIM for Cities 2024 mechanism, as well as Senior Manager of Sustainability of PT Great Giant Foods, Arief Fatullah as one of the winners of the 2023 SDGs Action Awards.

The SDGs Action Awards itself include an appreciation event for all stakeholders who have supported the implementation of SDGs in Indonesia, including local governments. Through this event, the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas as the coordinator of the SDGs implementing in Indonesia targets the openness of various practices in all layers of stakeholders so that they can be replicated and developed more widely and encourage the acceleration of the target of achieving SDGs in 2030.

In particular, the local city government can follow the assessment of I-SIM for Cities which is a collaboration between the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, PT Surveyor Indonesia, and APEKSI (Indonesian City Government Association). The I-SIM or Integrated Sustainable Indonesia Movement this year has been running for three years, starting with the I-SIM for Cities for the City Government in 2022, the I-SIM for Regency Government in 2023, and the I-SIM for Cities this year.

President Director of PT Surveyor Indonesia, Sandry Pasambuna in his presentation session explained the reasons for the alternating implementation of the City and Regency Governments.

"The implementation of the I-SIM program for the City and Regency Governments is indeed held alternately, to provide space for disclosure and then the repair rooms for areas that have followed, so that then there can be continuous improvement so that we can jointly achieve the 2030 agenda target," he said, in a written statement, Wednesday, May 22.

"We hope that the I-SIM for Cities event can be maximized by the city government as a forum for disclosing data and measuring the achievements of the city's SDGs, which can then be used as a recommendation for the preparation of regional strategic plans, developing regional capabilities, opening investment opportunities, opening up partnership opportunities with other regions or other multi-party collaborations," Sandry continued.

In addition to being a forum for disclosing data and measuring the achievements of the City SDG through ranking, the city government can take advantage of the opportunity to participate in the I-SIM for Ctities for the development of capabilities to national and global standards for sustainable regions, forums for learning and sharing experiences between cities, obtaining recognition and appreciation as sustainable areas, can show the attraction of ESG (environment, social, government) and TJSL (social and environmental responsibility) from the city.

Thus, the opportunity to open multi-party collaboration is a supporting factor in regional economic improvement and sustainable investment opportunities, as well as the results of the I-SIM can be a reference and recommendation in the preparation of regional strategic plans.

I-SIM for Cities itself will hold a special Kick-Off in June 2024, where city governments can start registering their regions and following a series of mentoring, data filling, verification, assessment and judging, until later the best areas can also attend and receive awards at the SDG's Action Awards at the 2024 Annual Conference SDGs in October.
