SYL Contributes IDR 102 Million To Karawang Islamic Boarding School Using Ministry Of Agriculture Money
JAKARTA - Former Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, is said to have given a santuan worth Rp. 102 million to one of the Islamic boarding schools in Karawang, West Java, the donation used the money from the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan).
This statement was conveyed by Andi Nur Alamsyah as Director General of Plantation who was a witness in the trial of the alleged extortion and acceptance of gratuities for the defendants SYL, Kasdi Subagyono, and Muhammad Hatta, today.
"Then the peculiarity that the witness said was that the activity in Karawang (kiai Karawang) was Rp. 102.500 thousand, what does this mean?", the prosecutor in the trial at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, Monday, May 20.
"Usually Mr. Mengiri if there is this, provide assistance to Islamic boarding schools," said Andi.
Then, Andi explained, the money used was the result of a share at the Director General of Plantation.
Overall, the expenditure from the Director General of Plantation to fulfill SYL's interests reached IDR 317 million
"To this kiai?" asked the prosecutor.
"Yes. At that time we were asked to share and fulfill it," Andi replied.
"So the total becomes?" asked the prosecutor.
"Rp 317 million," Andi replied

In this case, Syahrul Yasin Limpo allegedly extorted his employees of up to Rp44.5 billion during the 2020-2023 period with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono and the Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Hatta.
This money was then used for the benefit of Syahrul's wife and family, invited gifts, the NasDem Party, religious events, aircraft charters to Umrah and sacrifices. In addition, he was also charged with receiving gratuities of Rp40.6 billion from January 2020 to October 2023.
