Kominfo Reveals Three Main Functions Of Indonesia Digital Test House

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo accompanied by Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi has inaugurated the Indonesia Digital Test House (IDTH) or the Telecommunications Equipment Testing Center in Tapos, Depok, Tuesday, May 7.

The Director General of Postal and Informatics Resources and Devices (SDPPI) of the Ministry of Communications and Informatics, Ismail, explained that there are at least three main functions of IDTH.

"This IDTH has three main functions, one protection, meaning that protecting the public from using telecommunications devices that are not safe to use, unhealthy to use, it is the main function of protecting the community," Ismail told the media on Friday, May 17.

Then the second, Ismail said that the presence of this IDTH was intended as a gateway for the local telecommunications equipment industry that wanted to develop its business and export it abroad.

"So if there is an industry that will carry out business development or export of its devices, it will be tested on IDTH, so there is no need to be tested in the destination country, so that certificates from the Ministry of Communication and Information can be used," he explained.

Furthermore, the third function of IDTH is as spectrum management, which means one unit in national frequency spectral management that guarantees interoperability and protection from interference between device users to improve user experience.

Currently, IDTH has 12 laboratories that are fully operational with super sophisticated testing tools. The presence of IDTH makes testing telecommunications devices equivalent to laboratories abroad.
