Allegations Of Nurul Ghufron's Ethical Violation Makes Nawawi Pomolango Uncomfortable To Be A KPK Leader
JAKARTA - The interim chairman of the KPK, Nawawi Pomolango, said that the alleged ethical violation committed by the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, made him uncomfortable. As the head of the institution, he felt sad.
This was conveyed by Nawawi after attending the ethics session of the KPK Supervisory Board regarding the alleged abuse of authority by Nurul Ghufron for dealing with the mutation of employees of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) today, Thursday, May 16.
"I don't think it's very comfortable as a leader in this institution. It's just sad," said Nawawi at the ACLC KPK Building, Rasuna Said, South Jakarta.
Nawawi said the KPK should excel in carrying out its task of eradicating impromptu practices. However, recently the focus of the community has shifted because there are allegations of ethical violations committed by Ghufron.
"It's not that it shows that the work of eradicating corruption actually presents something like this to the public," he said.
Furthermore, Nawawi emphasized that he also did not know about Ghufron who was suspected of helping with employee mutations at the Ministry of Agriculture. He admitted that he did not interfere so that the KPK Council only briefly examined him in an ethics trial.
For information, Nawawi at that time was still serving as Deputy Chair of the KPK because Firli Bahuri had not resigned as Chairman of the KPK due to a legal case with former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo. The management of this mutation is said to have been carried out by Ghufron in March 2022.
"I've been clarified by the Council before and have said I don't know anything about this matter and then called to be a witness. Yes, I also repeat my statement, I don't know anything," he said.
"That's why there are no five minutes that have been completed," continued Nawawi.
As previously reported, the KPK Supervisory Board held an ethics trial against the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, on Tuesday, May 14. This process was carried out because he was suspected of abusing his authority in dealing with the mutation of an employee of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan).
