Jokowi Intervenes To Fix Customs And Excise, Special Staff Sri Mulyani: Will Accelerate Coordination
JAKARTA - The Special Staff of the Minister of Finance, Yustinus Prastowo, welcomed the attitude of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who will also intervene to help fix various performance problems of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (Ditjen Customs).
Prastowo said that his party really welcomed the evaluation and that the Ministry of Finance had committed to completing this matter to the regulations.
"We also welcome the president to step in, because the portion of the Ministry of Finance has been brought to the rapid (leader meeting) and there is already a committee to complete it to the regulations that are the duties and responsibilities of the Ministry of Finance," Prastowo told the media crew, at Menteng Court, Wednesday, May 15.
According to Prastowo, related to customs issues are not only related to the Ministry of Finance, but also related to other ministries or institutions (K/L) and with the President's encouragement to solve these problems, it is hoped that it can accelerate coordination between Ministries/Eligencies.
"But we know that customs matters are not only the Ministry of Finance. There are slices with other ministries/agencies. So we are grateful to have the President's contact, of course, it is very helpful to accelerate coordination and accelerate things that need to be resolved quickly," he said.

Prastowo hopes that with the help of the President, he can accelerate the resolution of various problems related to Customs and Excise and have a positive impact on the community. In addition, the Ministry of Finance has also taken a number of steps to improve in Customs and Excise such as identifying regulations that require adjustments.
In addition, Prastowo conveyed other steps, namely system evaluation, improvement based on the results of evaluation and input from the community, as well as simplification of standard operating procedures (SOP) in the field.
"In terms of human resources, friends have been strengthened in the field, also supported by good technicality, so that it will be easier for them to seek information referrals as well as make decisions faster and better," he said.
Previously, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati on Wednesday, May 15 met with President Jokowi to report and discuss the performance of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, which has recently been in the public spotlight and viral issues on social media.
