The DPR Baleg Said About Adding Ministry: The Number Is In Accordance With The President's Needs, The Important Thing Is Effective
JAKARTA - The Legislation Body of the DPR agreed to amend Article 15 of Law Number 39 of 2008 concerning the Ministry of State which regulates the number of ministries. The DPR agreed to remove the number 34, namely the current number of ministries.
Deputy Chairperson of the DPR Baleg and Chair of the Panja of the Ministry of State, Achmad Baidowi (Awiek) explained that in the 1945 Constitution, the president was given the mandate of prerogative to appoint and dismiss his ministers and the number was not limited.
Therefore Baleg gave the president the freedom to determine the number of ministers. Provided, the head of state must consider the element of effectiveness in running his government.
"Our country today adheres to a presidential system, so we give flexibility, flexibility to the president to develop its cabinet based on the needs he thinks are needed. But the effectiveness of reform we limit that although the numbers are not limited, there is a spirit that must be held, namely the effectiveness of the government," said Awiek at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, May 15.
"So the key word for government effectiveness. In the preparation of the number of cabinets, want 34, want 10, want 20 more than 34, all of them refer to the effectiveness of government administration," he continued.
Whatever the number of ministries, according to the PPP politician, the most important thing is how this government runs effectively and is useful and useful for the community.
"If something goes wrong with us as a state, the government procedures that we improve. Because we have a presidential system, we give the authority to the president," he concluded.

Previously, the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR accelerated the discussion on the revision of the State Ministry of State Law (UU).
Chairman of the DPR Baleg Supratman Andi Agtas said the discussion of this afternoon's meeting was only to remove the current number of ministries, namely 34. The regulation is contained in Article 15 of Law Number 39 of 2008.
"Because this is based on yesterday's request, we have distributed several members and materials both in the draft. Therefore, I hope that later our discussion will be discussed, because this only removes and only removes 34 points from the ministry side," said Supratman.
"And yesterday it was also supported by the opinion of our friends that we in the presidential system we leave it entirely to the president who is to determine the number of ministries needed," he continued.
The Gerindra politician said, by removing the number 34, it means that the ministry may decrease, increase or remain in accordance with the president's policy.
"So it doesn't lock, the point is from the presidential system that we follow," said Supratman.
