New Xiaomi SUV Ready To Launch 2025, Ready To Challenge Tesla Model Y
JAKARTA - Xiaomi, an electric car manufacturer and technology giant from China, is rumored to be producing and selling a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) model similar to the Tesla Model Y by 2025.
Citing the CNevpost page, Wednesday, May 15, based on a report from Bloomberg, during the development of this SUV, Xiaomi compared it to Tesla's model, according to sources familiar with the company's major move.
Actually, news about Xiaomi's plan to present an SUV is nothing new. A lot of news has been circulating about this model. However, Xiaomi first launched a sedan version called SU7 on March 28.
According to the report, production of the Xiaomi SUV will begin when the second phase of their assembly plant is completed, or the earliest by the end of 2025.

The Xiaomi plant is located in Yizhuang, Beijing, with an annual capacity planned at 300,000 units. The plant will be built in two stages, each with an annual production capacity of 150,000 units.
The factory's first phase has been completed in June 2023, covering an area of about 720,000 square meters and has an annual capacity of 150,000 vehicles. The second phase is scheduled to start in 2024 and is expected to be completed by 2025.
The presence of this SUV from Xiaomi will certainly help the Chinese brand expand its presence in the mainstream market, considering that various manufacturers continue to compete to create new innovations in the electric SUV segment.
