Thailand Open 2024 Results: Rehan/Lisa And Dejan/Gloria Escape Round Of 16

JAKARTA - Mixed doubles pair Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati face a fierce three-game match to get past the first round of Thailand Open 2024.

The seventh seed of the tournament spent 64 minutes stopping Wang Chan/Shin Seung Chan with a score of 21-17, 17-21, and 21-12, on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, WIB night.

The victory over the South Korean pair made Rehan/Lisa the first representatives of Indonesia to qualify for the second round of the BWF Super 500 level tournament from 14 Indonesian representatives who were sent there.

"For the evaluation material for facing the second match (bak), earlier my defense still had holes in it. There really was no pressure."

"We have to learn more, how can I be calmer on the field," said Lisa after the match.

Rehan/Lisa have had a very tough fight since the first game. They had to struggle to bounce back from four points 10-14 to win the game.

A promising start was shown by Rehan/Lisa in the second game after they stole the first three points. However, chasing numbers came after and the opponent then took a 12-8 lead.

The three consecutive points produced by the Indonesian pair to cut the score and had brought the hope that the match would be over in two games. However, the tight duel was then won by the opponent.

Rehan/Lisa showed a very dominant appearance in the deciding game. Losing two points at the beginning of the game was not a nightmare for the couple.

Two counter points make the match expected to run as hot as the previous two games. However, after the 4-4 position, the Rehan/Lisa rate could no longer be blocked.

"Thankfully in the third game we changed by appearing more pressing. Rehan and I also communicated to remind each other. Finally, little by little we were able to excel and win. The opponent was also under pressure," said Lisa.

The three games were also played by Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja who came down against the host pair, Pakkapon Teeraratsakul/Phataimas Muenwong.

The sixth seeded pair lost in the first game before rising in the next two games to get a second round ticket following their colleague Rehan/Lisa.
