Police Disbursed Chronology Of Accidents On The Bromo Line That Killed 4 People
The Malang Resort Police Traffic Unit, East Java, revealed a number of facts in the single accident event on the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) route which resulted in the death of four people. Malang Police Traffic Head AKPAdis Dani Garta said the left side of the Vehicle Utility Vehicle (SUV) type vehicle that had an accident hit a hill before plunging into a ravine. "At the scene of the incident, there was a collision on the left side of the vehicle with a hill," said Adis as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 14. He explained that this fact was known after the Malang Police Traffic Unit personnel conducted a crime scene (TKP) in Ngadas Village, Poncokusumo District, Malang Regency. The vehicle drove from east to west. According to him, after the vehicle numbered B 1683 TJG hit the hill on the left, the car carrying nine people swerved to the right and then hit the barrier until it plunged into a ravine as deep as approximately 80-100 meters. "Arrived at the TKP, there was a collision on the left side of the car with the hill, eventually swayed to the right, a slip tire and hit an artificial road barrier," he said.

Based on the provisional conclusions of the TKP processing results, there were no traces of braking on the route that decreased quite sharply. However, when approaching the impact point, it was found that the tire tracks were slipping. "This indicates and it could be suspected that the driver was driving the vehicle at a fairly high speed," he said. With a fairly high speed on the route that fell quite steeply, the driver was unable to control the vehicle and then did not brake. Police are also still investigating the condition of the vehicle functioning normally or not. "For the damage of the brakes we will re-investigate it after the evacuation process. For high speed, however, later it will be explored. However, if we look at the tire tracks, it was approximately 60 to 80 kilometers per hour," he said. The evacuation process of the vehicle that entered the 80 to 100 meters deep ravine used a steel sling rope. In addition to deploying Malang Police personnel, the evacuation process was also assisted by local residents. Evacuation of the vehicle was about two hours. Single accident events in the Ngadas Village area that entered the TNBS area occurred on Monday (13/5) at around 18.30 WIB. In that accident, four people died, while five others survived.
