After The Word 'Negrito', Cavani Will Leave From MU

JAKARTA - Edinson Cavani's father, Luis, claims his son will not renew his contract at Manchester United which expires at the end of this season.

Luis said that the three-match ban imposed by the FA in connection with posts deemed racial in December 2020 made Cavani uncomfortable in England even though last month Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said United would start negotiations for a contract extension with the 34-year-old striker.

According to Luis, Cavani has long considered playing for a Latin American club to be closer to his family. He claims his side has spoken with Boca Juniors president Juan Roman Riquelme about the possibility of bringing the Uruguay striker to Argentina at the end of the season.

"He feels uncomfortable", Luis told the Argentina TyC Sports network's Superfutbol program as reported by Antara, Wednesday.

"For the past two years he has been thinking about being closer to his family and I think Edi will play for a team in Latin America. Edinson has spoken a lot with Riquelme about his plans for Boca. I personally want him to play in a team that has a chance to win. something and I think he will come home at the end of the season", he added.

Cavani was in the spotlight at the end of 2020 when his social media posts included the word 'negrito' and were questioned by the FA for being racial.

Cavani calls it an expression of closeness with a friend and the FA understands that it is not purely racist, but 'disobedience' is not considered sufficient.

The FA argued that 'Premier League fans' would find the word racist in tone and according to Luis the incident was a bad experience for Cavani.

"They sentenced him to three games for this nonsense. Here we always use the word 'negrito'. We are not racist. That is part of his consideration for returning to Latin America", said Luis.
