Eloy Casagrande Opens Up About Decisions To Leave Sepultura To Join Slipknot
Eloy Casagrande, the new drummer for Slipknot, revealed the reason for deciding to leave Sepultura.
Meanwhile, Casagrande left Sepultura in February, which said he would disband after the farewell tour. This raises great speculation that he will join Slipknot after Jay Weinberg's dismissal late last year.
The speculation proved to be true after Slipknot recently announced Casagrande as Weinberg's successor.
In an interview with Veja Sao Paulo from Brazil recently, Casagrande also explained how the process behind his decision to become a Slipknot drummer.
"They (Slipknots) asked me to record and send some videos from here in Brazil," said Eloy Casagrande.
At first there were three songs, then they asked for three more songs, and asked if I had a plan to go to America. And I was scheduled to perform there in January with my instrumental music project, Casagrande & Hanysz. So, they raised my flight a little bit, and I spent five days in Palm Springs, practicing with the whole band," he continued.
Then they asked me to extend my stay for five more days, so we could note a few things. I think it's also part of the audition. They put new ideas on me to see what my songwriting looks like. They wanted to test me at all costs."
It took until February for Slipknot to decide whether Casagrande was worthy to join the band.

Slipknot consists of nine musicians, so there are a lot of fields and layers, and they need everyone's approval before giving me permission," Casagrande said.
Furthermore, the official invitation came after Sepultura announced that they were separated and Casagrande explained that Slipknot's audition was a big attraction for him.
"This 'Band' (Sepultura) will disband, and I don't want to stop playing drums at the age of 33," Casagrande said.
It was my decision to leave Sepultura. It was complicated. I told (Sepultura about my decision) when I had completed the deal (with Slipknot) on February 5 or 6. That day I also held a meeting and explained the situation. That's all, the individual decision, "concluded Eloy Casagrande.
