ASDP Transports 125,950 Vehicle Units On Weekend Long Holidays

JAKARTA - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) noted that the movement of vehicles and passengers served during the long holiday last weekend.

Where, the vehicles transported during that period were 125,950 vehicles and 26,122 people.

The passengers and vehicles are transported via the two main crossings of Merak-Bakauheni and Ketapang-Gilimanuk.

ASDP Corporate Secretary Shelvy Arifin revealed that the government has set national holidays and collective leave twice this May, the holiday has also encouraged the movement of people to travel or vacation, especially by land and crossings.

Even so, Shelvy said the increase was not too significant compared to the Eid Al-Fitr holiday in 2024.

Shelvy revealed that there was no significant spike, especially on the busiest route in Merak-Bakauheni which connects Java-Sumatra, as well as the Ketapang-Gilimanuk route that connects Java-Bali.

During the long holiday last weekend, some people used it to vacation with their families. Our monitoring shows that the flow of vehicles is busy flowing but smoothly under control. It is certain that the capacity of ports and ships is also adequate from Wednesday night to last Sunday," Shelvy said in an official statement, Monday, May 13.

Shelvy said the port and ship capacity at Merak Port reached 36,825 small vehicles, followed by 38,128 small vehicles at Bakauheni Port.

Meanwhile, Ketapang Port is able to accommodate up to 16,885 small vehicles and at Gilimanuk Port can accommodate 16,550 small vehicles.

"During the long weekend yesterday, the highest number of passengers on the departing current at Merak Port fell on Wednesday as many as 2,384 passengers and 8,610 vehicles. When the return flow on Sunday, the movement of 2,806 passengers from Bakauheni Port was 2,806 people and 8,984 vehicles," said Shelvy.

Meanwhile, continued Shelvy, the movement of departing currents from Gilimanuk tends to spread evenly and has actually increased on Saturday, May 11, as many as 5,619 vehicles.

Then for departure from Ketapang Port, it was seen an increase on Thursday 9 May as many as 6,190 vehicles and Sunday 12 May as many as 6,419 vehicles.

Shelvy added that the increase in traffic across Java-Bali did not appear significant when compared to daily production, which is usually at 6,000 vehicles.
