Five Districts In Ambon Affected By Longsor And Strong Winds
AMBON - A total of five sub-districts in Ambon City, namely Nusaniwe, Baguala, Ambon Bay, Sirimau and South Leitimur were affected by landslides due to high rainfall accompanied by strong winds.
"The intensity of the rain that continues to increase from May 12-13, 2024, has resulted in several disasters in Ambon City," said Ambon City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Chief Executive Fahmi Sallatalohy as reported by ANTARA, Monday, May 13.
A number of areas in the five sub-districts also fell trees due to strong winds.
Disaster incidents such as landslides occurred in a number of areas including Batu Merah, Amantelu, Hative Kecil, Baru Desk, Mangga Dua Village, Benteng, Passo, Hukurilla, Ema and Hative Besar.

Meanwhile, strong winds caused trees to fall and resulted in damage to the roofs of residents' houses in the Batu Table area and Urimessing Village.
The Ambon City BPBD team, he said, had conducted a review, collected data, and provided assistance for the cleaning of landslide materials.
The team went directly to inspect the location of the incident and cut down fallen trees, assisted by the community in mutual cooperation to clean up landslide locations and fallen trees that hit residents' houses.
"We have monitored and provided assistance in the form of carts, shovels, tarpaulins and sacks for families to clean the location and anticipate further landslides," he said.
