Joint Exercise With US Navy-USMC In Lampung, Indonesian Navy Deploys 1,380 Troops And 3 KRI

The Indonesian Navy (AL) deployed 1,380 troops at the 2024 Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training Joint Exercise (Latma CarAT 24) with US Nayy which was held around the waters of Ratai Bay and Piabung, Pesawaran, Lampung.

"The 2024 Latma CARAT activity involves approximately 1,380 Indonesian Navy personnel and 1,180 American soldiers," said Commander of Koarmada I Rear Admiral TNI Yoos Suryono Hadi in the 9th Marine Infantry Battalion, Pesawaran, Lampung Province, Monday, May 13, confiscated by Antara.

Rear Admiral TNI Yoos Suryono said that the joint exercise to be held for 7 days, 3'20 May 2024, the Indonesian Navy deployed weapons of warships, aircraft, and Marine artillery weapons.

In this exercise, the Indonesian Navy deployed KRI Semarang-594, KRI Kerambit-627, KRI Kujang-642, 2 units of Heli Panther, 1 unit of CN-235 aircraft, and 11 tactical vehicles.

Meanwhile, the US Navy deployed USS Somerset (LPD-25), 2 LCAC units, 4 units of Heli CH-53 Sea Stallion, and 1 unit of unmanned aircraft (UAS).

The implementation of the 2024 Latma CarAT, he said, was an implementation of the policy of the Indonesian Navy leadership.

The Commander of Koarmada I hopes that this activity can provide an important meaning and a positive impact on the relationship between the Indonesian Navy and the US Navy and USMC in maintaining security stability in the region.

"This military cooperation is to improve interoperability, build bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries, build friendship, and strengthen the professionalism of soldiers," he said.

It was also stated that a number of training materials would be carried out, including, decision making, knowledge exchange or subject matter export exchange (SMEE).

"The following are individual exercises and joint beach defense exercises by integrating ground troops, sea elements, and air elements," said TNI Admiral Yoos Suryono.
