360 Thousand Residents Leave Rafah Amid Israeli Military Operations

JAKARTA - An estimated 360,000 people have left Gaza's southernmost Rafah city over the past week, according to the UN's main aid agency in Gaza, UNRWA.

People left Rafah following calls for Israeli evacuation ahead of a massive land attack plan.

At least 60,000 people have been out of Rafah since Sunday, May 12, according to UNRWA.

Meanwhile, in the north of #Gaza, bombings and other evacuation orders have created more evacuations and fear for thousands of families. There's no place to go. There's no security without the #fireline," UNRWA said in an X post, reported by CNN, Monday, May 13.

Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA Commissioner-General, the day before warned most people in the region had moved on average once a month to avoid Israeli bombings.

"The claim'safe zone' is false and misleading. There is no safe place in #Gaza. Point." he said.

Top US officials repeated a strong weekend warning against Israel's invasion of Rafah, and predicted ground attacks would result in heavy civilian casualties.
