Megawati Calls The Condition Of The TIM Unclear After Revitalization
Chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri said the condition of Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) which should be the center of culture became unclear after being revitalized. This was conveyed by Megawati after attending the single exhibition of an artist from Yogyakarta, Butet Kertaradjasa entitled ‘ Melik Ng carry Lali ’ at the National Gallery, Central Jakarta today, Monday, May 13. Initially, he mentioned that art was extraordinary.“ I have said that art is extraordinary. Imagination, creativity, ” Megawati said when asked about Butet's work at the location.Megawati admitted that this is not the only time she has met an artist. Then, he highlighted the TIM which is usually used as a place of art." “ The one who loves it is TIM. Please write that down, it's not clear,” he said. The 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia remembers how the TIM used to function as a cultural center. Megawati still remembers watching films that were not shown anywhere except there.“Taman Ismail Marzuki I know a lot, I often, I have cards. There are films that I don't think are shown outside, I have cards and so on, and I really enjoy them and I really understand,” Megawati explained."“ Well, where now,”" he continued.“(So, red) trading center,” replied Butet who sat next to Megawati." “ Yes, tho, that's why I said it's not clear," said Megawati again.Megawati reminded that the arts and culture of the country should be of concern to all, especially young people. Because, there is a tendency for them to start forgetting the nation's culture and be more interested in foreign culture.
“ Young people now don't think about Indonesian cultural arts, the archipelago. They think I also like Kpop, my grandchildren are all happy. I'm also happy but (they, ed) don't want to appreciate it like this,” he said.“Indonesian culture, the archipelago is extraordinary. It must be taken from our single bhinneka,” concluded Megawati.
