The Criminal Investigation Unit of the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Police, Bali, arrested and detained a taxi driver with the initials IKEP (40) who stole a backpack belonging to a French passenger with the initials DM (46).Head of the Public Relations Section of the Ngurah Rai Airport Police, Ipda Nyoman Darsana, said that the IKEP perpetrator was found to have deliberately not informed the whereabouts of the French foreigner's belongings after being taken down at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport and bringing the goods to his home."The perpetrator has admitted his actions and has now been named a suspect as referred to in Article 362 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 372 of the Criminal Code and has been detained at the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Police Headquarters," he said in Denpasar, Antara, Sunday, May 12.Darsana explained that the theft occurred on Sunday, April 28 at around 18.30 WITA at the International Departure Terminal at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.At that time, the French foreigner took a taxi with his mother from Canggu, North Kuta, Badung Regency, at around 17.00 WITA to I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.When they arrived at the international departure terminal, the victim and her mother got out of the car while lowering the trunk in the form of two suitcases that her mother would take away. Meanwhile, the backpack belonging to the victim was stored behind the seat where the driver was sitting, left in the car.Furthermore, said Darsana, the victim, who was reminded of his bag that was left in a taxi car, tried to make a living on the dark blue taxi around the international terminal, but was not found.The contents of the black backpack include a number of victims' identity cards and Rp100,000 in cash denominations totaling Rp30,046,000.The victim then just reported what happened on Monday (6/5) at around 22.00 WITA. The victim, who lives in Villa Perrenan, Mengwi District, admitted that he suffered a loss of Rp42 million.Following up on the victim's report, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Ngurah Rai Airport Police, Iptu Rionson Ritonga, and his members conducted a series of investigations, including conducting CCTV checks around the International Departure Terminal of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.
Traces of the perpetrator's taxi car were tracked down by the Airport Police Satreskrim Opsnal Team, so that finally on Tuesday (7/5) night, the perpetrator and his evidence were successfully secured at his home on Jalan Imam Bonjol, Gang Kertapura Denpasar.
