41 Thousand Indonesian Elderly Congregants Perform 2024 Hajj
JAKARTA - Indonesian Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said as many as 41,000 elderly (elderly) pilgrims will be recorded to be performing the pilgrimage in 2024.
"Still like last year, there were approximately 41,000 elderly people," he said when met on the sidelines of the release of the departure of the Indonesian first pilgrims at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Sunday, May 12 in the morning.
Gus Men, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas' nickname, emphasized that all facilities that have been prepared in Saudi Arabia are ready to meet the needs of the congregation during the pilgrimage in the Holy Land, including for the elderly.
"God willing, for the service we have prepared, yesterday I checked, just this afternoon I returned from Saudi (Arab) with the Director General, we have checked. God willing, we are ready to accept our pilgrims," he said.
On Sunday morning, Gus Men said as many as 8,700 pilgrims for Hajj candidates were flown to Medina, Saudi Arabia to perform the pilgrimage.
"Now that is the number of 8,700 pilgrims who will be flown to Medina. The number of groups is 22 groups," he explained.
Gus Men appealed to other pilgrims who would be dispatched to maintain their health, so that the pilgrimage could run smoothly.

In addition, he also appealed to the congregation to obey the regulations while in Saudi Arabia, such as not carrying excess items, and not carrying prohibited items such as okulang and so on.
"Yes, we have advised how to prepare health, what equipment to carry, we have conveyed it every time", said Gus Men.
