Trans Sulawesi Road Access In Parimo Terdepat Akibat Banjir

Parigi Moutong - Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Central Sulawesi said that the trans Sulawesi road access in the district is currently cut off due to flooding in Uevolo Village, Siniu District.

"Currently, road access is still cut off by approximately 200 meters, so vehicles from the direction of Parigi to Gorontalo Province and vice versa are still stuck," said Head of BPBD Parigi Moutong Idran, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, May 11.

Currently, the road is covered with mud material along with tree trunks and large stones, making it difficult for four-wheeled vehicles to pass through.

The Parigi Moutong Regency Government is currently making efforts to handle it by cleaning up materials that cover the road using three heavy equipment.

"Currently there are three heavy equipment cleaning materials, one unit from the Parigi Moutong Public Works Service and two other units assisted by tools from the National Road Implementation Center," he said.

It was reported from the incident that a number of residents' houses were damaged, currently the worst condition is road infrastructure because vehicles cannot pass.

"Currently, the local BPBD is conducting a field assessment. There were no casualties from this incident," said Idran.

He explained that heavy rain at dawn that flushed the mountains in the region triggered flooding accompanied by material causing road access to be cut off.

In Uevolo Village, there is no other road access other than trans roads, so there is no alternative but waiting for the handling of closed roads carried out by the local government.

"The main lane is only the trans road on the left side of the mountain and the right side of the sea, so inevitably the vehicles are piled up, we ask road users to remain patient waiting for the handling to be carried out," he said.
