Driver Forced To Work 'Gas' Continues, Bus In St Petersbug Russia Falls Into River Until 7 People Die

JAKARTA - Bus accident occurred in St Petersburg, Russia allegedly because the driver was 'forced' to work without adequate rest. Seven people were reportedly killed by a bus plunging into the river after crashing into a bridge divider fence after overflowing on the highway.

The Investigative Committee, Russia, reported six other people who were evacuated from the bus were in critical condition.

As reported by CBS News, Saturday, May 11, there were 15 to 20 people on the city bus as the bus broke through the guardrail and plunged into the Moika River in downtown St. Petersburg.

Video released by Russian media showed the bus speeding, turning sharply into the bridge, turning across the track and colliding with other vehicles before breaking through the guardrail and falling into the river.

Authorities in Sankt Peterburg said the bus owner was fined 23 times for various violations. Meanwhile, bus opir was detained by the police.

The bus driver's wife, as quoted by Russian media, said the manager forced her husband to work on the morning shift after working for 20 hours the previous day and barely getting a break.

Authorities have opened criminal investigations into alleged traffic violations and unsafe travel services.
