Shin Tae-yong Hopes That The Communication Of Indonesian U-23 National Team Players Will Run Well
JAKARTA - Indonesia U-23 national team coach Shin Tae-yong said communication between the players in his squad while on the field while competing was still far from what was needed.
He conveyed this at a press conference ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic playoffs against Guinea at INF Clairefontaine, Paris, France, Thursday, May 9 at 20.00 WIB tonight.
Shin explained that communication between players when competing is very important. They should not hesitate and need to be loud with each other in order to minimize mistakes that can be exploited by the opponent.
"It's like that our players have to learn," said a South Korean tactician, who has a tough task of taking Indonesia to qualify for the Olympics for the first time through a qualifying route.
Communication between players was in the spotlight after Nathan Tjoe A On was caught on camera not reluctant to scold and reminded his colleagues when making mistakes during the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup yesterday.
Shin said things like that should be imitated by other players because they are commonplace. So far, he said, there are still players who are embarrassed and uncomfortable giving warnings to their colleagues who make mistakes.
"Nathan is very positive and kind in his behavior. That's what I ask all the players. Actually, the communication of the players is very good and it must be done continuously," said Shin, who had just received a new contract until 2027.

In tonight's match, Shin Tae Yong's squad was not strengthened by several core players. Two of them are Justin Hubner, whose clubs Cerezo Osaka and Rizky Ridho, who were sentenced to a red card.
Efforts to bring in Elkan Baggott to fill the void were also made. However, the 21-year-old player could not join Garuda's troops.
