Riau Islands DGT Confiscates IDR 2 Billion Taxpayer Assets

BATAM - Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes, Riau Islands (Kanwil DJP Kepri) confiscated a number of taxpayer assets worth IDR 2 billion.

Head of the Audit, Collection, Intelligence and Investigation Division of the Riau Islands DGT Regional Office Rizal Fahmi said the activities were attended by all work units within the Riau Islands DGT Regional Office consisting of six Tax Service Offices (KPP).

The six KPPs are KPP Madya Batam, KPP Pratama Batam Selatan, KPP Pratama Batam Utara, KPP Pratama Tanjung Pinang, KPP Pratama Bintan, and KPP Pratama Tanjung Balai Karimun.

"This activity resulted in several confiscated objects, namely land, motorized vehicles, and accounts stored in banks with a temporary estimated value of Rp2 billion for all these assets," Rizal said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 8.

The Head of the Riau Islands Regional Office of DGT, Imanul Hakim, said that Sima Simultaneous is an effort to help and improve the security of state revenues from the tax sector, especially through collection actions in the form of confiscation.

"In addition, it also aims to provide determinants and awareness for taxpayers or taxpayers to immediately pay off their tax debts," said Imanul.

For assets that have been jointly confiscated, in accordance with applicable regulations, each KPP will immediately coordinate with the State Property and Auction Service Office (KPKNL) to immediately conduct an auction of the confiscated assets.

"Except for confiscated assets in the form of taxpayers/taxors' accounts stored in banks, book transfer procedures will be carried out to pay off remaining tax debts," he said.

However, taxpayers/taxors are still given the opportunity to immediately pay off their tax debts before the official announcement of the auction by the State Property and Auction Service Office (KPKNL).
