BPOM Confiscates 3,799 Illegally Dangerous Drug Boxes In Denpasar

DENPASAR - The Center for Drug and Food Control (BBPOM) confiscated 3,799 boxes of traditional medicine that added illegal and chemically dangerous stamina in Denpasar, Bali.

Acting Head of BBPOM in Denpasar Wayan Eka Ratnata said the thousands of strong medicine boxes were divided into 44 brands, all of which did not have a distribution permit and could have dangerous side effects for consumers.

"From yesterday's operation (7/5) in the West Denpasar area, we found that 44 items of traditional natural ingredients that we found had but fictitious distribution numbers, it was also known that the product contained medicinal chemicals," he said, Wednesday, May 8.

Some of the illegal strong drugs sold have brands such as the Malam King, Maduurat, and Cobra X, besides that there are also sore drugs such as Wantong and Gold Guci, where all the confiscated drugs are various in shape from liquid, capsule, to powder.

Ratnata said that together with the police they had been stalking SU (39) several months ago through his electronic trading account because so far the drug has been sold online.

From a house in the West Denpasar area, the man has been selling medicine for 2 years, apart from trading online, he also owns herbal medicine carts for selling.

"The circulation is because he admits that he distributes it online, so almost all regions are not only in Bali, based on the recognition that until now he has bought it online, we don't know where the production site is because it is still being investigated," he said.

Although traditional medicines are widely sold, BBPOM finds the most dominant amount of evidence is the strong drug for men's stamina.

"From the evidence, we tested it in the laboratory and based on the findings of most chemicals that are efficacious as an increase in vitality, it functions as an erectile dysfunction," he explained.

Until now, the victim has not been found for SU's actions, but Ratnata assesses that new consumers will feel the side effects of the drug in the next 5-10 years.

"This contains medicinal chemicals, in traditional drug regulations it is not allowed to contain it, usually the dose is not controlled, so those who consume it will damage the body's organs, especially the heart, kidneys, and liver," he said.

The economic value interpreted from the traditional drug trade is around Rp. 241,499,000, for this reason, the product sold by SU alone was secured, the case was investigated for development, then an investigation was carried out.

It is planned that today that BBPOM will hand over the original Denpasar trader to the Bali Police, he will be sentenced to Article 435 of the Health Law and Article 60 number 10 of the Job Creation Law, with a threat of 12-15 years in prison and a fine of IDR 1.5 billion.

"Our appeal to the public is not to carelessly consume medicinal and food products, from us there is a jargon check click, to choose the product must see product packaging, labels, distribution permits, and expiration," said Ratnata.
