Wednesday Morning, The M 5.2 Earthquake Shakes NTB To Bali

Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, and Bali were rocked by an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 at 05:09 WIB, centered 97 kilometers southwest of West Lombok Regency, with a distance of 108 kilometers from Mataram City, Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

Temporary information from the West Nusa Tenggara BMKG stated that the location of the earthquake coordinates was at 9.51 South Latitude (LS) - 115.84 East Longitude (BT) with a depth of 78 kilometers. Meanwhile, the epicenter was 75 kilometers southwest, West Lombok Regency.

The BMKG confirmed that the earthquake that occurred at around 05.09 WIB did not have the potential to trigger a tsunami wave.

BMKG also appealed to the public to be careful of possible aftershocks and ask to remain calm and not be influenced by issues that cannot be justified.

Meanwhile, one resident in Central Lombok Regency Gardena said the 5.2 earthquake was not too long and he heard vibrations occurred in the window of the house.

"It turned out that the earthquake, so my window shook for a moment earlier," he said.
