JAKARTA - The fifth unit of the C-130 J Super Hercules transport aircraft made by Lockheed Martin ordered by Indonesia is scheduled to arrive in Indonesia on May 17, 2024.

Head of the Public Relations Bureau of the Secretariat General of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense Brigadier General TNI Edwin Adrian Sumantha said the plane was planned to be sent on May 10, 2024 and arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, on May 17, 2024.

"The initial plan to depart May 10, 2024 from Marietta, Georgia, United States," Edwin said when contacted in Jakarta, Tuesday, May 7, was confiscated by Antara.

The Indonesian government in 2019 purchased a total of five C-130 J Super Hercules aircraft from Lockheed Martin, four of which in the period 2023 to early 2024 were received by the Indonesian Government and handed over directly to the Indonesian Air Force (AU).

The last unit of C-130 J Super Hercules, just like the other four aircraft, will also strengthen the 31st Air Squadron of Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta.

If you look at previous shipments, the last unit of Indonesian order is likely to pass through the Georgian route, San Diego, Honolulu, Kwajalien/Marshall Island, Guam, then immediately fly and land in Jakarta.

The C-130 J Super Hercules has a length of 34.69 meters, a height of 11.9 meters, and a wingspan of 39.7 meters, while its cargo compartment is 16.9 meters long, 3.12 meters wide, and 2.74 meters high.

The latest aircraft by the TNI AU C-130J Super Hercules can carry a maximum load of up to almost 20,000 kilograms or nearly 20 tons. The C-130J Super Hercules can also carry 8 pallets or 97 stretchers, 128 combat troops, and 92 paratroopers.

The C-130J Super Hercules has improved features from its predecessor type, for example an upgrade to the fuel protection system, as well as a cargo handling system. There is also a more sophisticated flight station system improvement and a fully integrated digital avionic system.

The new Indonesian Air Force aircraft has also been equipped with a head-up display and advanced navigation technology that includes multiple inertial navigation systems and GPS.

The maximum speed of the C-130J Super Hercules aircraft reaches 660 kilometers per hour at an altitude of 6,706 meters and its power is obtained from four Rolls-Royce AE 2100D turboprops which can generate 4,700 stances.
