PDIP: Names Of Anies And Ahok Proposed To Be The 2024 Jakarta Cagub Pair
JAKARTA - Despite having faced a fairly fierce issue of identity politics in the 2019 DKI Jakarta Pilkada, two former governors of DKI Jakarta, namely Anies Baswedan and Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok, were proposed to the PDI-P as candidates for governor - deputy governor of Jakarta 2024.
PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said his party was still observing the names of figures proposed to be promoted as candidates for governor and deputy governor of DKI Jakarta in the 2024 simultaneous regional elections.
"The names will be filtered according to proposals from the regions. We apologize, we cannot mention it because it is still carrying out the funeral process," said Hasto at the Pemenangan Command Post, Jakarta, Monday, May 6 evening.
He also did not deny that Ahok and Anies were figures proposed to the PDI-P to be promoted as regional heads in Jakarta. According to him, they are figures who reflect the character of Indonesia.
"We are a democratic party with Indonesian character, so the names are proposed from below," he said.
The politician from Yogyakarta explained that the names of candidates for regional heads and candidates for deputy regional heads promoted by the PDI-P will be screened through the proposed branch leadership council (DPC) and regional leadership council (DPD).
For this reason, the screening process is still being carried out at the provincial level for candidates for governor and deputy governor candidates.

Hasto said the party bearing the white-nosed bull will continue to capture the names that will be carried in the 2024 simultaneous regional elections.
"The names related to who is the candidate for governor in the areas that are in the public spotlight, such as Jakarta, West Java, North Sumatra, then Central Java, Bali, North Sulawesi, including Papua and Aceh, continue to be extinguished," concluded Hasto.
