Had Mangkir, KPK Ensures Sidoarjo Regent Gus Muhdlor Attends Today's Examination

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that the Regent of Sidoarjo, Ahmad Muhdlor Ali or Gus Muhdlor had confirmed that they had fulfilled the summons of the investigation team today, Tuesday, May 7. This summons is related to the investigation into the alleged corruption case at the Regional Tax Service Agency (BPPD) of the Sidoarjo Regency Government.

The KPK has named three people as suspects in this case, namely the Head of the General Subdivision and Personnel of the Sidoarjo Regency BPPD, Siska Wati (SW); Head of BPPD Sidoarjo, Ari Suryono (USA); and Gus Muhdlor. For now, only Gus Muhdlor has not been arrested.

"Based on the information we received, Tuesday, May 7, at the KPK's Red and White Building, the Sidoarjo Regent is confirmed to be present," said KPK spokesman Ali Fikri, Monday.

Gus Muhdlor was absent from the summons of the KPK investigating team on Friday last week. Ali Fikri said that actually the KPK could forcibly pick up suspects who did not attend to fulfill the summons for clear reasons. Even so, this time the KPK chose to wait for Gus Muhdlor's cooperative attitude to fulfill the summons of the investigation team.

"If the suspect who is properly summoned in the investigation process is not present and for no apparent reason, then a forced effort can be made in the form of a pick-up to be faced in front of the investigator. However, we hope that the Sidoarjo Regent will cooperate," said Ali Fikri.

Gus Muhdlor's statement was needed by a team of KPK investigators to clarify the alleged corruption case at the Sidoarjo BPPD which is being investigated. Through tomorrow's summons, the KPK gave Gus Muhdlor the opportunity to provide information he knew about the case.

On the other hand, Gus Muhdlor is currently filing a pretrial lawsuit because he does not accept that he has been named a suspect by the KPK. The anti-corruption agency also ensured that the lawsuit did not stop ongoing investigations.

"In addition, the pretrial process that is starting does not stop the ongoing investigation and of course the pretrial is only limited to testing the formal administration side of the investigation process," said Ali Fikri.
