Sandiaga Uno: World Water Forum 2024 Brings IDR 800 Billion To Bali

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno estimates that the World Water Forum 2024 in Bali will contribute economically to the island, with a potential of up to 35 50 million US dollars or Rp561 billion to Rp800 billion.

In a virtual press conference in Jakarta, Monday, May 6, Sandiaga said that this event is expected to be attractive between 35,000 and 50,000 participants, both from within and outside the country, so that it can generate large revenues for local businesses and improve the local economy.

"And we believe the World Water Forum in Bali can be a milestone for Indonesia and Bali to place a strategic role in water management with local wisdom," he said, quoted from Antara.

Sandiaga added that the request for flights to Bali jumped ahead of the world water forum which will open on May 20.

He added that his party was analyzing requests for flights to Bali to consider the possibility of additional flights during the World Water Forum.

Sandiaga said he would coordinate with the Ministry of Transportation to consider additional flights to Bali to accommodate the surge in interest.

"We will work with the Ministry of Transportation to add more flights to Bali," he said.

The World Water Forum will be held on May 18-25, 2024 in Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, Bali.

The World Water Forum is an international meeting involving a number of stakeholders in the water resources sector, ranging from the government, parliament, political leaders, multilateral institutions, politicians, academics, civil society, and business actors.

The event will be a platform to address water-related critical issues, including sustainable water management, adaptation to climate change, and water and sanitation.

The 10th World Water Forum carries six sub-themes, namely water security and well-being, water for humans and nature, reduction and management of disaster risk, governance, cooperation, and hydro-democracy, sustainable water financing, and knowledge and innovation.

The results of the forum are expected to result in commitments and concrete actions to achieve better and more sustainable water management.
