Foreign Tourist Visits In March 2024 Reach 1.04 Million, Sandiaga Optimizes 14.3 Million Targets By The End Of The Year

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno reported that the number of foreign tourist visits (tourists) in March 2024 reached 1.04 million.

In a virtual press conference in Jakarta, Monday, May 6, Sandiaga said this figure rose 19.86 percent compared to March 2023, but fell 1.91 percent compared to February 2024.

However, the total number of foreign tourists in January-March 2024, which reached 3.03 million visits, actually increased by 25.43 percent compared to the same period last year.

"This figure shows that we are on the right track to achieve the target of more than 14.3 million foreign tourists visiting in 2024," Sandiaga said, quoted from Antara.

According to the data displayed, Malaysian tourists dominated visits in March 2024 with 160.3 visits or 15.38 percent, followed by Australia with 124.2 visits (11.92 percent), Singapore with 120 thousand visits (11.52 percent), and China 94.4 thousand (9.1 percent).

Sandiaga said the number of foreign tourist visits was driven mainly by an increase in visits at the entrance to Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali by 31.5 percent and Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Banten by 33 percent.

In addition, several main entrances to the highest foreign tourists during March 2024 were also found in Batam, Riau Islands; Tanjung Uban, Riau Islands; Juanda, Surabaya; and Kualanamu, North Sumatra.

In addition to the number of visits, hotel occupancy in March 2024 also showed a positive trend, reaching 43.41 percent. Sandiaga said the average number of guests staying at the hotel also increased to 1.7 nights.
