Staff Of The Minister Of PUPR: World Water Forum Raises The Vital Role Of Water Infrastructure For Food

JAKARTA - Special Staff (Staffsus) of the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Firdaus Ali said the 10th World Water Forum in Bali raised the vital role of water infrastructure in maintaining food and energy security.

"The 10th World Water Forum in Bali can raise the vital role of water infrastructure in maintaining food and energy security," said Special Staff (Stafsus) of the Minister of PUPR for Water Resources, Firdaus Ali, quoted from ANTARA, Monday, May 6.

Efforts to raise the role of water infrastructure are carried out through a debate forum which is a discussion arena on effective water infrastructure management strategies to support agricultural irrigation (food security) and hydroelectric energy production including floating solar power plants (PLTSA) to support the achievement of non-fossil energy mixes.

Then policy integration by encouraging policy integration between the water, food and energy sectors to create synergies and efficiency in the use of resources.

Project demonstrations by showing water infrastructure projects that have succeeded in supporting agriculture and energy production, as an example for other countries.

Climate change discussions attribute the importance of resilient water infrastructure in the context of climate change that can increase resilience to extreme weather events that affect food and energy security.

The appointment of Indonesia as the host of the World Water Forum or the 10th World Water Forum is the first in the Southeast Asia region which will take place in Nusa Dua, Bali, May 18-25, 2024 by the World Water Council (WWC), considered to be proof of the confidence of international institutions in this nation.

The international forum includes three approaches, namely Thematic Process, which provides a substantive basis for water issues or problems, Regional Process, which provides a perspective on water from all regions, and Political Process provides a platform for discussing with stakeholders.

Experts will also come and there will be 280 sessions. There will also be sessions for young people to talk and play a role in water management.

The World Water Forum discusses the importance of water for people's lives globally and brings together various sectors such as food, energy, environment, health in accordance with the theme raised at the World Water Forum 2024, namely Water for Shared Prosperity or Water for Prosperity.
