Ahead Of The 79th Anniversary Of Indonesia's Independence, Bappenas Disbursed IKN Development Reaches 80.82 Percent

JAKARTA - Minister of National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas) Suharso Monoarfa revealed that the progress of the first phase of the development of the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN) reached 80.82 percent ahead of the 79th Independence Day commemoration ceremony.

"The development of IKN as the center of new economic governance in the midst of Indonesia has progressed by 80.82 percent of the first phase of the development target, where development is focused on the Central Government Core Area (KIPP)," said Suharso when opening the 2024 National Development Planning Conference (Musrenbangnas) at the Jakarta Convention Center, Monday, May 6.

Suharso said that in this first development stage, it was focused on the central government core area with several priority infrastructures to form an ecosystem unitary area that was intact.

Suharso added that it was in the form of building basic infrastructure and a number of buildings that would later become IKN landmarks or main markers such as the Presidential Palace, Ceremony Field, National Advertisement, Ministry/Institution office buildings, ministerial office houses (RTJM), State Civil Apparatus (ASN) residences and defense and security.

Furthermore, basic infrastructure development includes main road networks and expressways (toll roads), electricity, telecommunications to water networks resulting from APBN funding to cooperation between other ministries and institutions (K/L).

"Meanwhile, facilities for infrastructure and basic and supporting facilities such as hospitals and international standard schools, sports facilities are supported by the contribution and active role of entrepreneurs and private parties from within the country," he explained.

In addition, Suharso said that the IKN development was also supported by the entry of local investors, as seen from the groundbreaking procession that had been carried out five times by President Jokowi with a total investment commitment of Rp49.6 trillion.

"IKN noted that investment commitments continue to increase. This is indicated by the implementation of 5 groundbreakings. The total investment pocketed has more than IDR 49.6 trillion," he said.

According to Suharso, the progress of IKN development until now will run in accordance with the plan mandated by law in guarding IKN Development.

"By paying attention to the progress of the development, we are sure that the IKN development will run according to plan. In accordance with the law, the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas will oversee the development of IKN and encourage regional development around it," he said.
