Brazil Floods, Copa Libertadores And Sudardina Postponed

JAKARTA - The South American Football Agency (CONMEBOL) announced it had postponed the Copa Libertadores and Sudamadona matches following heavy rains and floods that hit Porto Alegre, Brazil.

"CONMEBOL has decided to postpone the Libertadores match between Huachipato of Chile and Gremio of Brazil, scheduled for Wednesday (8/5)," CONMEBOL said in a statement on the official website on Sunday.

"The Sudasterina match between Bolivia's Real Tomayapo and Brazil's Internacional scheduled for Tuesday (7/5) was also postponed," the statement continued.

"The new schedule for the match will soon be announced," the statement continued.

Heavy floods in Brazil have killed 55 people and turned off electricity in settlements inhabited by more than 350.000 people.

Local authorities also temporarily suspended the operations of Salgado Filho's international airport in Porto Alegre because it was flooded. Access roads to the airport also cannot be used because it is covered by overflowing water
