Basarnas: Flood Disaster Casualties In Luwu Become 10 People
Makassar National SAR Agency (Basarnas) released temporary data on 10 fatalities and two people are still in search of the impact of floods and landslides in Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi.
"Currently, the joint SAR team is focusing on searching for two people who were swept away by the flood. There are two villages, namely Poringan Village and Kaili Village, which are the point of the loss of victims," said Head of the Makassar Basarnas Office, Mexianus Bekabel, through a press release received on Saturday.
For the search for victims, said Mexi, it was divided into five SRU (Search and Rescue Unit) teams. SRU 1 position conducted an assessment using drones, SRU 2 combed the river behind the victim's house. Meanwhile, SRU 3 conducted an infantial sweep on the left and right sides of the Suli River. Furthermore, SRU 4 searched around the landslide point which was close to the victim's house, and SRU 5 searched by rubber boats on the Suli River.

"It should also be noted that communication is somewhat hampered due to flooding in some of these areas, but hopefully with cooperation from various parties, this condition can recover soon, so that we can immediately obtain information and disseminate it properly," added Mexianus.
From temporary data, 10 victims affected by floods and landslides have died, respectively, namely Rumpok (97), Jatima (55), Rima (84), Muh Misdar (29), Mawi (57) Sukma (9), Kapila (84), Ambo Accung, Nadira (40), Sunarti (40).
Meanwhile, the victim who is currently in search of the Joint SAR team by walking along the river was allegedly carried away during the flash flood on Friday, May 3, 2024, namely Mutmita (5) and Ulfiana (8).
The flood disaster was triggered by moderate to high rainfall intensity that hit several areas in South Sulawesi which affected five districts, namely Enrekang Regency, Wajo Regency, Sidenreng Rappang Regency (Sidrap) and Luwu Regency and Soppeng.
From data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), 13 sub-districts in Luwu Regency were affected by floods and landslides, namely Suli, Latimojong, West Sulawesi, Ponrang Selatan, Ponrang, Bupon, Larompong, South Larompong, Bajo, Bajo Barat, Kamanre, Belopa and North Belopa. The water level is monitored between 1-3 meters.
