80 Percent Of XL Axiata Capex In 2024 Used To Strengthen Networks
JAKARTA - PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) stated that 80 percent of capex (capital expenditure) during 2024 of IDR 8 trillion will be used to improve and strengthen the network as a form of the company's commitment to customers.
"The company is committed to making efforts to improve network quality as the main support for efforts to improve customer experience," said XL Axiata Director & Chief of Technology Officer, I Gede Darmayusa, quoted from ANTARA, Friday, May 3.
Gede added, the company is also continuing its network development investment initiatives carefully to be able to encourage improved service quality and increase the use of growing networks.
In terms of infrastructure, XL Axiata is also still building a network throughout the first three months of 2024.
Therefore, the number of BTS increased 9.6 percent yoy to a total of 163,106 units, including 107,906 units of 4G BTS, with the level of connectedness to the optical fiber network reaching 62 percent (fiberized).
Technically, fiberization is an effort to modernize the network by connecting BTS through fiber channels, including regenerating BTS devices.
"For example, by replacing the device that has been using the microwave into a fiber device. Fiberization is done to improve the quality of the data network and in preparation for the implementation of 5G in the future," he said.
The results of implementing digital-based strategies through data analytics also allow companies to invest in high-value areas and build networks, including to meet demand from all customer segments.

Regarding XL Axiata's preparations for the World Water Forum in Bali, Gede said Bali is one of the areas that is the company's mainstay considering that the island has repeatedly become the location of various international meetings.
"We have checked and checked all locations with our BTS and the results are all in good condition and ready so it is hoped that there will be no network disruption during the forum," he said.
