"Yes, there were seven victims who died due to landslides in Luwu Regency," said South Sulawesi Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Chief Executive, Amson Pandolo, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, May 3.
From the incoming data, the identities of the landslide victims who died in Buntu Sarek Village were female on behalf of Rumpok (97), Jatima (55), Mawi (57), and Sukma (9). Furthermore, the male victims were named Rima (84), Muh Misdar (29) and Kapila (84). While one victim was in Sidrap.
So far, the joint BPBD and SAR teams are conducting evacuations and assessments of victims affected by landslides at the scene.
Temporary information gathered, landslides are not only in Luwu, but landslides and floods have occurred in several other districts, triggered by high rainfall, such as in Sidrap Regency, Enrekang Regency, and Wajo Regency.
"The landslide disaster occurred in Sidrap, Enrekang, Wajo, and Luwu. Currently in Luwu, Latimojong District, seven died, including in Suli and West Sulawesi. The flood is almost evenly distributed in Luwu," he explained.
When asked how many victims and houses were affected by floods and landslides spread across the four districts, he said that until now the team was finalizing data and helping evacuate victims of natural disasters.
"It has not been recorded, because the team is still focused on carrying out evacuations and assistance, and has not recorded how many houses were damaged," said Amson Pandolo.
His party facilitated, sent aid, and collected data. "In that disaster, the point is the local BPBD, we coordinate one. So what the BPBD city does, is the same as us (BPBD South Sulawesi)," he said.
