Airbnb Launches Pop Icon Feature, Visits Places That Can Only Be Seen In Movies
JAKARTA - Airbnb introduces a new feature called the Icon. Through an Icon, users will find famous places that you could possibly only see in movies, television series, music, or anywhere else.
For example, you may imagine staying at an airplane in the film Up, staying at the Ferrari Museum, or much more. Now, Airbnb is launching 11 Pop Icons, which are spread around the world this year.
"The Pop icon invites you into a world that was initially just imagination, but has now become a reality," said Brian Chesky, co-founder and CEO of Airbnb in a statement received by VOI on Thursday, May 2.
Pop icons will be displayed in separate categories right on the homepage. Most of the places on Pop Icon are free of charge, and they are all priced under $100 (IDR 1.6 million) per guest.
No need to worry about running out of tickets, because Airbnb will display a countdown that will show the time until every Pop Icon is opened for bookings, and guests can apply for bookings through the app.
Lucky guests who are selected will get digital gold tickets and later there will be more than 4,000 gold tickets available in 2024.
In addition, Airbnb also introduced several new features that would make group travel planning easier, including:
Favorites together: Now you can share your favorites with other people on your way, invite them to add homes, provide notes and choose lodging options. When you share a list of inns with other people, the app will create a list of favorites consisting of these houses.

New Messages Tab: The now-designed Message Tab now allows everyone traveling to send messages with the host in the group thread.
Travel invitations: Once you've booked a trip, you can invite other people to join you using a digital postcard according to the destination you're aiming for with illustrations of the works of various artists from around the world.
Everyone who joins the trip will get all the reservation details including a full address, Wi-Fi password, and check-in instructions.
Icons and new features for group trips are available to everyone today.
