Riau Police Name 5 Suspects In The Mastermind Of The Death Of Police Detainees
The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the Riau Police has named five suspects as the mastermind behind the unnatural death of a prisoner from the Bukit Raya Sector Police, Pekanbaru City named Dimas Firnanda who died in November 2023.
Director of the Riau Police Ditreskrimum Kombes Pol Asep Darmawan during the disclosure of the case, explained that the five people were fellow detainees at the Bukit Raya Police. The five suspects jointly abused Dimas until the victim died.
"The initials of the suspects are AW, F, FFS, IE, and TH. Fellow detainees," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 30.
Kombes Asep explained that the incident was based on an argument between the victim and the suspects. The suspect admitted that Dimas often came out of the bathroom with wet feet.
"The victim often came out of the bathroom with wet feet. This caused the suspect's sleeping area to get wet. That's what underlies it," said Asep.
Until finally declared dead, the victim was finally buried in Medan, North Sumatra by his family. However, the family who felt that Dimas' death was not natural to want this incident to be investigated further and an exhumation or grave excavation was carried out for the examination process.

After the autopsy process was carried out, several broken bones of the victim were found. Then it was concluded that violence by blunt objects in the head was the cause of Dimas' death.
Based on the matching of the suspect's confession, surveillance camera footage, and autopsy results, it was concluded that the victim was abused by using her hands and feet. "Even until the victim fell on the back, the suspects continued to abuse," he said.
As a result of their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 338 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison, a subsidiary of Article 170 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of 12 years.
