Riau Islands Governor Will Evaluate Private Land Management Permits But Abandoned
The Governor of the Riau Islands (Kepri) Ansar Ahmad will evaluate the permits of private companies that neglect land for decades without development or development.
Ansar said that his party will immediately review the validity of land and location permits belonging to companies in each district/city in the Riau Islands because the location permit has a certain time limit.
"Including whether they (the company) registered their land or not. Otherwise, we will take concrete steps related to its handling," said Governor Ansar in Tanjungpinang, Tuesday, April 30, as reported by Antara.
He admitted that he would immediately hold a coordination meeting with all regents/mayors throughout the Riau Islands to map the land acquisition owned by certain companies.
This aims to prevent land dispute problems that lead to legal proceedings.
Ansar gave an example in Bintan Regency, there is a sleeping area owned by PT E which has been abandoned for about 20 years or left by the company without any development activities. Even though there are still many parties or investors who are looking for land for investment activities.
The over-laying of land in Bintan, said Ansar, also sparked legal problems that ensnared the Acting Mayor of Tanjungpinang Hasan (former sub-district head in Bintan), as a suspect in the alleged forgery of the land certificate belonging to PT E.

According to him, this incident is a lesson for all parties related to land, especially companies so as not to neglect land for decades.
"The land case in Bintan was triggered by over-hauling of land. Therefore, we will study the law related to sleeping land, so things like this do not happen again in the future," said Ansar.
Meanwhile, Governor Ansar also responded to the determination of the suspect Acting Mayor of Tanjungpinang Hasan, who was by the Bintan Police regarding the alleged forgery of land certificates.
He fully handed over the legal process for the man who is also the Head of the Riau Islands Provincial Government's Communication and Information Service (Diskominfo) to the competent authorities.
"We still uphold the principle of presumption of innocence. Moreover, this is not a corruption case, but a land dispute," said Ansar.
