Robert Trujillo Talks About Different Play Styles Of Two Previouss In Metallica

JAKARTA - Robert Trujillo discussed two previous Metallica bassists, Jason Newsted and the late Cliff Burton. The 59-year-old Bassist called both of them great musicians, but had different styles of play.

"It's interesting because between Jason and Cliff, they are very different players, and I think it's great," said Robert Trujillo while performing at the Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk some time ago.

"I love the fact that we are all different, we all have things we bring to the band," he continued.

Robert sees Cliff as a rock bassist who is similar to two jazz legends, Jaco Pastorius or Stanley Clarke. Cliff is considered to be very concerned about bass sound and how a song is presented.

"And of course, with Cliff, he's an amazing musician. Tell me, he's really a composer in terms of instruments, just like Jaco Pastorius or Stanley Clarke," said Robert.

Meanwhile, Jason is rated as a bassist with a solid game, which is able to maintain the balance of the song well.

"Jason really keeps it and holds it back, keeping it strong and much simpler. I think it's really solid," said Robert.

Meanwhile, Robert Trujillo himself was a bassist born in Santa Monica, California on October 23, 1964. He achieved success with the Suicidal Tendencies and the band Ozzy Osbourne.

In 2003, Robert successfully auditioned to replace Jason Newsted in Metallica. Until now, he is still with Metallica. This makes him the longest bassist for the band.
