P21 Files, 5 Suspects In The Fish Bombing Case Delegated To The Sikka Kejari

The Directorate of Water and Air Police (Ditpolairud) of the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police has handed over five suspects and the fish bombing case file to the Sikka District Attorney (Kejari).

"This afternoon we have transferred five suspects in fishing cases using fish bombs to the Sikka Kejari," said Adjunct Police Commissioner Hendra Dorizen in Kupang, Friday, April 26, as reported by Antara.

He said the submission of the criminal case was forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office as evidence that the Ditpolairud of the NTT Police was not playing games with the cases as the five suspects did.

"We want cases like this to be resolved, therefore we speed up the process and then delegate it to the Kejari," he said.

He explained that previously on March 25, his party arrested five fishermen who were caught catching fish with fish bombs in Ende waters.

The five fishermen were named Sobi, Gara, Uvi, Pio and Mea. They were arrested after a police report: LP/A/11/III/2024 when the perpetrators carried out fishing activities using fish bombs.

After receiving a report from Polairud personnel from the Ende Police, they immediately patrolled using the patrol boat KP.P. SUKUR XXII - 3007 around the reported waters.

Patrols were carried out from March 24 to 25. While patrolling they heard the sound of a compressor engine. Not long after, a diver from the seabed appeared carrying sacks.

"The team then suspected it was a caught fish," he said.

He added, with the disclosure of the case, there is great hope that the perpetrators can be deterrent and not do it again and urge all of us to preserve marine resources.
