Jayapura City Government Asked To Build Concrete Cube To Prevent Abrasion At Holtekamp Beach

JAYAPURA - The Government of Holtekamp Village, Jayapura City, Papua hopes that in the future the local government will build a concrete cube on Holtekamp Beach to prevent sea water abrasion.

Head of Holtekamp Village Abraham Merauje said the Jayapura City Government (Pemkot) through the relevant agencies had installed gabions for temporary handling of 200 meters of sea water abrasion.

"However, we hope that there will be a concrete cube construction because if not in the next 10 years sea water can rise to the highway," he said in Jayapura, Papua, Friday, April 26, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to Abraham, sea water abrasion often occurs every year on the beach of holtekam from November to February.

Jayapura Mayor (Walkot) Frans Pekey said his party plans to build a talud along Holtekamp Beach to prevent sea water abrasion that occurs every year.

"For this reason, we will coordinate with the central government through the relevant ministries to discuss the construction of the talud," he said.

According to Pekey, Holtekamp Beach is a tourist destination so it must be well arranged so that in the future the location is not damaged due to sea water abrasion.

His party will also coordinate with the Papua Provincial Government and related ministries to prepare short and long-term steps in managing the Holtekamp Beach tourism area for the better.

"Because the tourist attraction is passed by a national road, this is our concern in the future," he said.
