Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Tests B40 For Trains And Ships

JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has conducted a trial implementation of 40 percent biodiesel or vegetable fuel from palm oil (B40).

"This trial will be carried out on the non-automotive sector, precisely for trains, ships to industrial heavy equipment with a trial period of up to 8 months," wrote the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources via the Instagram page of the Directorate General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) quoted Friday, April 26.

The Directorate General of EBTKE also said that after the trial, an evaluation of the results of the terap test would also be carried out. The B40 trial for the non-automotive sector is a continuation of the success of the B40 trial that has been carried out on land vehicles.

"Previously, the B40 trial had been carried out on land vehicles and went smoothly," the statement said.

Just so you know, the use of biodiesel for the domestic market in 2023 will reach 12.2 million KL. Moreover, in 2023 the mandatory biodiesel program will be launched to fossil fuels with a percentage of 35 percent or B35, and by 2024 it is targeted at 12.5 million KL.

With the mandatory biodiesel program, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif said it had a big economic effect on Indonesia in 2023. Namely, the state foreign exchange savings reached 7.9 billion US dollars or around Rp. 120.54 trillion.

"The savings occur because we can reduce diesel importation, including crude, because we can interfere with our fame," he added.

Then another economic effect of the biodiesel mandatory program is an increase in added value from Crude Palm Oil (CPO) to biodiesel of IDR 15.82 trillion. As well as very large employment, which is more than 11,000 off-farm workers, and reaches 1.5 million on-farm workers.
