Disbursing IDR 25.97 Billion, KPUPR Completes Arrangement For The Kumuh Talumolo Area In Gorontalo
The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has allocated a budget of Rp. 25.97 billion to turn the Tamulolo slum area in Gorontalo into a tourist spot.
"The arrangement of slum areas on the riverbank not only improves the physical infrastructure, but also invites the public to improve their quality of life and environment," said PUPR Ministry Spokesperson Endra S Atmawidjaja in a written statement received by VOI, Friday, April 26.
Endra said that the arrangement of Talumolo began to be carried out according to contact on February 20, 2023 and had been completed in January 2024 with a handling area of 30.81 hectares (ha).
"For the work that has been completed, it includes the construction of 2.4 kilometers of environmental roads (km) as well as the construction of 39 units of portable waste bins and one waste processing/final processing site," he said.
Then, regional arrangements include the construction of two gates, revitalization of retail areas, construction of culinary plazas, piers, mooring of ships and sports field infrastructure.
"At that location, a drainage infrastructure of 754.5 meters (m) was also built, repairs to the 1.2 km long embankment, 6 floodgates and 4 pedestrian bridges were built," said Endra.
Then, wastewater management facilities in the form of five units of the Local Domestic Waste Management System (SPALD-S) and five units of infiltration tubs.

Previously, the Talumolo area was a slum area on the edge of the water with the orientation of the partially turned to the river body. Thus, prone to inundation and flooding.
The area also has problems related to residential facilities, such as waste management, drainage and environmental roads.
The Talumolo settlement is located in the middle of Gorontalo City or about 3 km from the Gorontalo Mayor's Office. In addition to creating better environmental quality, it is hoped that the Talumolo area will become a representative tourist destination for the community and an icon of river tourism pride in the middle of Gorontalo City.
This is in line with the Talumolo Rindang and Indah (Santorini) program of the Gorontalo City Government which collaborates with the potential of the coastal, hilly and cultural tourism sectors.
