Weather Forecast, Big Cities In Indonesia Potentially Rain With Lightning
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the weather conditions of major cities in Indonesia have the potential to experience thunderstorms that are shrouded in clouds.
"The predictions of the surface wind in Indonesia are generally blowing from the east with velocities ranging from 10 to 50 kilometers per hour," said BMKG forecaster Nurul Tazaroh in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Friday, April 27. On the island of Sumatra, BMKG predicts cloudy weather to occur in Banda Aceh. Light to moderate rain has the potential to fall in Pekanbaru, Padang, Tanjung Pinang, and Medan. BMKG urges the public to be aware of the potential for thunderstorms that are expected to occur in Bengkulu, Jambi, Palembang, Bandar Lampung, and Pangkal Pinang. In Java thunderstorms are predicted to occur in Jakarta, Bandung, and Surabaya, while moderate rain in Serang and Yogyakarta, as well as cloudy skies in Semarang. Weather forecasts in the Sunda Kecil Islands tend to vary where light rain has the potential to fall in Denpasar, moderate rain in Mataram, and cloudy skies in Kupang. Kalimantan Island which has the potential to experience thunderstorms, in Pontianak, cloudy sky in Tanjung Selor, fog in Samarinda, as well as light rain in Palangka Raya and Banjarmasin.
