Freeport McMoran Reports To Have Deposited IDR 2.52 Trillion To RI In The Aftermath Of The Policy On The Issue Of The PTFI Concentrat Of Imports
JAKARTA - Freeport-McMoRan Inc. (FCX) reported that it had deposited at least 156 million US dollars in the first quarter of 20204 to the Indonesian government as a fee for exiting the copper concentrate. This amount is equivalent to Rp. 2.52 billion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp. 16,200).
This follows the issuance of Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) No. 71/2023 concerning Determination of Export Goods Subjected to Exit Fees and Exit Fees.
"PT Freeport Indonesia will be subject to export duties of 156 million US dollars in the first quarter of 2024 based on the revision of the regulation," said Freeport-McMortan President Total Quirk in a statement quoted on Thursday, April 25.
Based on PMK No. 71 of 2023, the government has set the tariff or fee to leave the processed metal mineral products, based on the construction capacity of a smelter of at least 50 percent.
The determination of the duty tariff for exports of metal mineral processing products, as referred to in paragraph (2), is based on the physical progress of the construction of a purification facility that has reached at least 50 percent.

He also said that PTFI was still discussing the implementation of import duties regulations revised by the Indonesian government for various export products, including copper concentrate because they were not in accordance with the special mining business license (IUPK).
"We discussed very intensely with the Indonesian government to continue the export of concentrate and anoda mud to smelters and metal refining can be fully operational," continuedte.
Meanwhile, during the first quarter of PTFI recorded the sale of copper consolidation reaching 493 million pounds and 564,000 gold ounces. This number was recorded to have increased compared to the same period the previous year which was recorded at 198 million pounds of copper and 266,000 ounces of gold.
