Sandiaga Promises Tourism Funds Not To Be Collected From Airline Ticket Prices
JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno admitted that there were plans for a meeting by the government to discuss sustainable tourism funds.
"Indeed, there is a discussion meeting on plans for sustainable tourism funds," said Sandiaga as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, April 22.
However, Sandiaga asked the public not to worry about the levies charged in the plane ticket. The reason is, there has been no decision regarding the levy.
Until now, he admits that airplane tickets are still quite expensive, including based on input and complaints from people who will use planes when traveling at home or abroad.
"As of today, don't worry that it won't burden the community with even more expensive ticket prices," he said.
Meanwhile, the issue of tourism funds is still being studied and has raised several options for collecting funds and the amount of funds in question.
The endowment of tourism, he continued, will be used for national branding promotional purposes in supporting the continuity of national and international activities (events).
Regarding tourism contributions, he ensured that the contributions would be reported transparently.

"Transparency must certainly be very transparent because now is an era full of necessity for transparency and will be transparently managed. We are obliged to make a report and we make sure it will not burden passengers because of ticket rates," he said.
Previously, an invitation letter from the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries was circulated on social media from the invitation letter uploaded by Member of the Expert Council of the Indonesian National Aviation Company Association (INACA) Alvin Lie via the platform X account. The invitation letter is said to discuss the imposition of tourism contributions via flight tickets.
