Heavy Rain, 39 People Forced To Evacuate Due To Floods And Landslides In Bogor

BOGOR- The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bogor Regency, West Java, evacuated 39 people affected by natural disasters in the form of floods and landslides in Cibadung Village, Gunung Sindur due to heavy rains.

Head of the Bogor Regency BPBD Emergency and Logistics Division M Adam Hamdani in Cibinong, Sunday, explained that his party had coordinated with local officials in handling the disaster that occurred on Saturday, April 20 that evening.

The Bogor Regency BPBD has also taken action according to disaster standard operating procedures (SOP) and conducted rapid studies and analysis at disaster locations.

"Meanwhile, the impact of the flood that overflowed into residential areas has been extracted inside residents' homes and the water is gradually receding," said Adam as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, April 22.

He said the incident resulted in nine housing units inhabited by 10 families consisting of 39 people affected by the flood disaster.

Then, it resulted in a house belonging to Muhammad Ilhamsyah which was inhabited by a family consisting of 5 people being damaged by landslides.

"The victim, who is the family of Mr. Muhammad Ilhamsyah, fled to the house of the relative whose address is Cilenggang Village, Serpong District, South Tangerang City," he said.

Adam said the landslide was caused by heavy rains with a long enough duration, causing the wall of land restrictions measuring 15 meters x 6 meters to collapse on residents' houses.

Meanwhile, the flood disaster, he said, was caused by the overflowing of the surrounding ditch which affected several residents' houses by puddles.

"Currently, the landslide has not been repaired and has not been handled due to the impossible situation. Then, if it rains heavily, it is feared that there will be further landslides and house owners are advised to shift to a safer place," said Adam.
