After Attacking Back To Iran, US Defense Minister And Israel Discuss Regional Stability

US media said Israel carried out a "limited attack" on Iran on Friday, April 19 in the morning, but there has been no official response from Israel. United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant by telephone discussed efforts to maintain regional stability, the US Department of Defense said, a day after reports of Israeli attacks on Iran emerged.

"The two ministers discussed the latest developments in Gaza, and the move to accelerate humanitarian aid for civilians in Gaza," US Defense Department spokesman Major General Pat Ryder said in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, April 20.

Austin and Gallat often spoke by telephone after Israel began to attack Gaza after a cross-border attack by the Palestinian Hamas group, which killed about 1,200 Israelis on October 7, 2023.

Iranian authorities also underestimated the report, and said the sound of explosions heard in Isfahan City was a result of Iran's air defense system shooting at suspicious objects.

Tensions escalated between Iran and Israel on Saturday after Tehran launched unprecedented drone and missile attacks against Israel in retaliation for the April 1 attack on its consulate in Syria.

The Israeli attack killed seven Iranian military officers, including two high-ranking commanders. Israel has vowed to retaliate against Iran's attack on Saturday.
