Three Tigers, One Parent And Two Children Seen In Aceh Besar BKSDA Team

The appearance of tigers around the shooting range in the Mata Ie area, Darul Imang District, Aceh Besar District is now being followed up by the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) by deploying a team.

"We are still investigating to confirm information on the appearance of the tiger. The team has also been dispatched to track the appearance of the tiger," said Head of the Aceh BKSDA Ujang Wisnu Barata in Banda Aceh, Saturday.

Previously, information circulated that a TNI soldier saw a tiger while cutting grass at the Rindam Iskandar Muda shooting ground, Mata Ie, Aceh Besar District on Friday (19/4) at around 10.15 WIB.

Furthermore, a number of TNI soldiers together with BKSDA officers checked around the place. From the results of the inspection, a tiger poll was found. BKSDA officers estimate that there are three tigers, one parent and two cubs.

Regarding the sightings of protected wildlife, the area around the location where tiger traces were found, such as the Deunong Hills, Japakeh, to Keudebing, was closed for community activities to anticipate unwanted events.

Ujang Wisnu Barata said the location of the tiger sighting was estimated to be within a radius of 500 meters to one kilometer from the TNI environment. The location is far away and rarely accessible to the public.

"The team also installed camera traps to ensure the presence of the tiger, as well as prevention efforts so that the tiger does not go down to residential areas," said Ujang Wisnu Barata.

Based on the list of animal scarcity issued by the World Conservation Agency International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN), the Sumatran Tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae) is only found on the island of Sumatra. Sumatran tigers with critically endangered species are at high risk of extinction in the wild.
