Turbulent In The Middle East Impacts On The Energy Sector, Minister Of Energy And Mineral Resources: Sufficient Fuel Stock For The Next 30 Days

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif ensured that the domestic supply of energy in the form of oil and gas was safe amid the heated conflict between Israel and Iran.

Arifin said that the energy stock, especially fuel, is still in a safe condition with resilience in the range of 17 to 30 days.

Arifin said that currently the government together with PT Pertamina (Persero) as a business entity have prepared energy security measures to anticipate the escalation of this conflict.

"Indonesia itself has sufficient stock depending on its commodities between 17-30 days," said Arifin.

Arifin said that his party had also asked Pertamina to take security measures, including shipping crude and fuel from conflict areas.

Not only that, Arifin said that currently the government has also prepared alternative countries that will supply crude, fuel and LPG.

Arifin said his party considered several countries on the African continent as alternatives because they did not pass through the Strait of Hormuz which is located between two countries experiencing conflict.

"If we look at the mapping, we can see that Africans don't pass (Horruz Strait)," added Arifin.

Arifin said that one of the countries being considered as alternatives was Mozambique.

Apart from Mozambique, Arifin said, his party considers the country of Guyana which is located in Latin America as another alternative.

Guyana's election is an alternative because Venezuela still receives US sanctions.

"It can also be Latin, Venezuela is captured. Maybe something new, Guyana," said Arifin.

In addition to looking for supplies for crude oil, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources also mentioned alternative supplies for LPG if at any time there is an escalation of conflict in the Middle East.

We can see those in Australia or in the hemisphere of America that do not pass the track (Horrmuz Strait). If not through that trajectory, you can," continued Arifin.
